For many years, a gray and white cat had lived for a church, capturing the hearts of parishioners and passersby. Among his fans was Stephanie B., voluntary for Little Wanderers NYC.
“Every day I walked, made a small sound of clicking with my mouth, and she knew it was me, and she would run towards me, shouting and demanding her scratches, pets and, hopefully, a snack,” Stephanie shared with Love Meow.
“He was super friendly and loved attention from the first moment.”
For a while, Stephanie thought the cat, Sparkles, belonged to the Church until she spoke with a member of the Church.
Sparkles was a street who found refuge in the church and trusted the kindness of strangers. He had challenged many warm winters and summers and survived the treacherous streets of the city. “I was in complete surprise for how friendly it was.”
Every time Sparkles saw Stephanie slid through the fence to greet her, snoring a storm. “They told me I could rescue her if I wanted to.”
In the coming months, the flashes disappeared from their usual place. When Stephanie finally saw her again, he contacted the Little Wanderers Nyc team, who responded immediately to help. “After approximately a week of verifying every day, Sparkles came out again for the church.”
“I heard her breathe, and it was bad. I realized that I had a poor upper respiratory infection, and that it was very cold outside,” Stephanie added. “I told Sparkles to follow me, what he has done often: he knows that he will get a can of wet food. I was waiting outside while I was going to get food and my bearer.”
When Stephanie placed the can in the carrier, Sparkles entered directly, marking the end of that chapter.
Sparkles was taken to the veterinarian for the treatment and attention that he desperately needed. “I was doing cookies all day at the veterinarian’s office. She is very happy, happy and grateful to be inside,” Little Wanderers Nyc shared.
With the rescue support, Sparkles spent a few days recovering in the hospital. Once he felt better, he moved to his reception home with Michelle M.
After years of touching the streets, Sparkles entered a love home for the first time. Although he was still new in his environment, he quickly found comfort and tranquility of his host family.
“She was very friendly when we got it immediately snoring and loving or caressing,” Michelle told Love Meow.
“The first day, she was scared of noise and hid under things from time to time, but she trusted a lot (more than my resident cat).”
Sparkles is so delighted to be sure that he often pushes his humans, bathing them with gratitude. “His favorite thing is to be a pet in the head: he can literally have enough. He has trouble relaxing if he is being a pet, and he has to constantly walk from one side to another.”
The sweet girl shades her adoptive mother from the house, looking at her until she catches her attention. She is in a full -time love error, with her personality shining now that she is free of concerns.
“From the cold, snowy and rough streets to a lovely, warm and cozy house. Foster saved the life of this girl,” added Little Wanderers Nyc.
Thanks to the compassion of its rescuer and many volunteers, Sparkles is thriving in parenting care. She ronrona and snuggles every day with loving humans by her side, a dream come true after years of outdoor life.
