Nothing could be more distressing than discovering that he has urinated in his bed. Especially if your kitten seems to be a well -adjusted happy cat. This behavior can make you wonder what the hell could be happening and how to solve it.
The case of urine bed
Such was the case of a couple who contacted me to get help because their cat was urinating everywhere. They sent me photos and videos of two very happy brothers of rag dolls, playing and preparing each other, seeing not care in the world.
Except that suddenly, one of the cats decided to urinate in the human bed! It was not happening every day, but it was happening enough to cause stress at home.
After meeting the family, and the kittens, in person, and asking many survey questions, I began to understand what was happening. I will talk about that below, since I describe some reasons why your cat can decide that your bed is the ideal sand box.
Why your cat avoids the sand box
Knowing what is triggering this behavior in your cat is the key to correcting this behavior. Why my urine cat in everything? Here are some reasons:
Disease
A clean health law of its veterinarian is the first step on the road to the correction of behavior. While the couple did not think this was meaningful information, I sure I did. These cats still know their new home and their humans, having been withdrawn from the only home they had known. They had a person, a cat and kin of kittens to whom they were emotionally attached. The anxiety of the separation, stress and insecurity they already felt were promoted even more when one of their humans was absent from the house.
And the great reason why cats urinate in everything else? Sand box disgust
Garbage and sand boxes can be a separate topic for themselves. Cats can be very borned on where they will “go” so often that it requires trial and error before finding what attracts your cat. Some cats are not so selective whenever you maintain consistent, but others can really test!

- Go to the veterinarian – Obtain that clean health list from your veterinarian. Make sure there is no underlying medical reason for poop behavior. And if there is, you and your veterinarian can work together to correct it.
- Solving the anxiety problem – If there are no medical problems, solving the problem that triggers your cat’s peanking behavior is the next step. If you are related to the sand box, make the necessary changes. Placement, box type, garbage substance, cleaning … Make those essential changes to create a sand box that your cat will find attractive. If you are related to stress, identify the sources of stress. Does your cat need more play time and one by one with you? Do you need to add more cats of cats and places to act like a cat? Or if he is new in his home, he may only need more time to settle in his home.

Today I wanted to share a precious personal memory of my deceased parents with you … As you know, I lost mom unexpectedly last October, and my dad only 5 weeks later in November …
On July 4 it always reminds me when my parents and I live in Buffalo in the Riverside area (from 5 to 10 years) before moving to the ‘Burbs.
We were so lucky! We lived right in front of Riverside Park, where there were walks and the usual arcade food. My childhood friend PAM, who lived across the street, remembers everything, I’m sure.
We loved the walks, but they were the fireworks that we all expect. I who embarked on my pjs, mom, dad and neighbors would sit in garden chairs in the parking lot of our apartment complex, with a frequent view of the show. I used to say that the fireworks were for me, since July is my month of birth.
My dad was an avid amateur photographer at that time, and took wonderful photos of the fireworks, timing the camera to catch them in their eyes. I wish he had some of those slides (yes, he always took slides at the time).
I miss those days, and I revived them today in my mind with happy tears.
Happy July 4 to my parents in heaven, and also to all of you …
